DSLR Wannabes, Oh Please!

with 2 comments

Either the DSLRs are getting real cheap in Singapore or the propensity of consumerism had simply shifted our utility curve. I get easily disgusted with folks treating DSLRs like a Point-and-Shoot camera.  I once saw a young lady using her DSLR to take a self shot (like how we would do it with our mobile phones). I wonder, how does a DSLR fits the needs of the many cam whores out there?

Each wedding I attended, there bound to be at least 3-5 DSLR hovering around. That excludes the engaged professional bridal photographer, mind you. Last Saturday, I saw 3 sets at my friend’s wedding.  I took this shot with Canon G11, a pro-consumer camera. Decent machine. Love it’s compactness and yet  meeting my demands. Shutter speed wise, I shall not ask for too much.

Oh yah, I forgot to add. Doesn’t my friend look super sweet here? She’s such a gorgeous pretty bride!

  1. A photographer’s talent will beat equipment anytime. That said, having owned and used an SLR (not a DSLR) before, I can see the difference between a point-and-shoot and an SLR.

And with the low-end DSLRs being more ‘affordable’ these days and the popularity of blogs, I am not surprised by the amount of interest in photography.

As for me, I’ll just stick to my simple Lumix camera right now, which has been with me around the world. 🙂
